Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as nose surgery or nasal reshaping, is a procedure designed to improve facial harmony and the proportions of the nose. This surgery can also correct shortness of breath caused by structural defects in the nose. Rhinoplasty addresses the size of the nose in relation to facial balance, the width of the nasal bridge or the size and position of the nostrils, the nasal profile, the tip of the nose, overly large or wide nostrils, and the nasal asymmetry. The areas the patient wishes to improve will be discussed during the consultation. This depends on which corrections are desired and which are recommended by Dr. Susel Tavizon. What is rhinoplasty for? Rhinoplasty is a surgery used to modify the shape of the nose and can be performed for different reasons, whether to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing, or even both at the same time. A rhinoplasty can modify the bone, cartilage, skin or even all three elements at the same time; This will depend on the patient’s needs and the possibilities or limitations of their nose. In summary, rhinoplasty can be used to correct deformities caused by injury, correct a congenital abnormality, or even improve certain breathing difficulties.

WHAT DOES THIS SURGERY CONSIST OF?

First of all, it is important to know that there is no universal type of rhinoplasty that can meet the needs of all patients, but rather this operation is designed especially for each case, in order to provide the best possible results for each patient. Another factor to take into account is that rhinoplasty must be performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, who must advise the patient on the results that can be obtained from the intervention according to the objectives and goals, to give an idea of the final shape. of the nose. This surgery is not recommended for children under 16 years of age, because at that age people are still growing and the appearance of their nose can change on its own and its decision should not be influenced by parents. A rhinoplasty generally lasts around 2 hours, depending on the complexity of each case. This can be carried out in a hospital or a clinic and is done in an operating room, as it is the only place that meets all the necessary requirements in terms of health to offer the best possible results to the patient. The first thing the surgeon will do is separate the skin from the bone and cartilage that support the nose and which will subsequently be sculpted according to the characteristics of the morphology that the patient wishes to obtain. Once this is done, the skin is redistributed and sutured. This intervention is usually performed through small incisions inside the nasal passages, although in some cases open surgery may be necessary, accessing from the columella. Once the procedure is complete, a cast is placed on the nose and both nostrils are plugged with cotton to stabilize the nasal septum and prevent bleeding.

What is the purpose of Abdominal Lipectomy?

Abdominal Lipectomy surgery is designed to address problems such as excess skin due to weight loss or previous pregnancies, as well as stubborn fat that seems to resist diet and exercise. In addition, it is effective in improving the appearance of your abdomen by strengthening the abdominal muscles and reducing the visibility of stretch marks.

What does the procedure consist of?

During an abdominal lipectomy, we remove excess skin and fat, while repairing weakened or separated abdominal muscles. Dr. Tavizon performs this procedure under general anesthesia or sedation. A horizontal incision is made between the pubic line and the navel, allowing access for necessary adjustments. After the skin is lifted along the incision, the abdominal muscles are strengthened, followed by another incision to remove excess skin. The upper skin flap is then pulled down to meet the lower abdomen, creating an opening for the navel. The incision is carefully closed with sutures and other surgical techniques, resulting in a flatter, firmer, and more aesthetically appealing abdomen.

Where and how is the procedure performed?

Rest assured that all of our abdominal lipectomies and mini-lipectomies are performed in the safe environment of an operating room, specifically within NewCity Medical Plaza in Tijuana. We prioritize your comfort and safety throughout the entire process.

What kind of anesthesia is used?

In most cases, general anesthesia is administered for an abdominal lipectomy, ensuring a comfortable experience throughout the procedure. In certain cases, such as mini-lipectomies and abdominal liposuction, epidural anesthesia may also be an option, allowing you to be awake but relaxed during surgery.

What to expect after the procedure?

After the procedure, bandages or dressings are applied to the incision areas. To promote healing and reduce swelling, it is essential to wear compression garments during recovery. A drainage system can be used temporarily to remove excess fluid. Dr. Tavizon will provide detailed aftercare instructions tailored to your needs. During the first few days, you may experience swelling and discomfort, which can be controlled with prescribed medication. Depending on the extent of the surgery, you may be discharged after a few hours or spend up to 1-2 days in the hospital. Although physical exertion should be avoided at first, gentle walking is encouraged. External sutures are usually removed between 7 and 21 days, and the drain is removed about a week later. Possible symptoms to take into account: Mild pain may appear immediately after surgery, which is usually relieved with pain relievers. Small bleeding and/or bloody discharge from the incision in the first 48 hours. A slight increase in temperature (up to 38º C) in the first 48 hours. Swelling in the abdomen and pubic region. This gradually decreases and disappears around the third week. Small bruises in the abdominal region, which will gradually disappear around the fourth week. Temporary decrease in sensitivity in the abdomen, which progressively normalizes over time. Addressing Concerns: While there are numerous cases of successfully performed abdominal lipectomies, it is natural to have concerns about any surgical procedure. When performed by a qualified surgeon like me, the results are usually optimal. Although all surgeries carry certain risks, complications specific to this procedure, such as infection or venous thrombi, are rare. Infections are treated with antibiotics and drainage, while venous thrombi can be prevented with early leg movement. Although there is a possibility of visible scarring or poor healing, these risks are minimized by carefully following pre- and post-surgery instructions, especially those related to physical activity.

The transformation:

The results of this procedure include a more youthful and flatter abdomen, firmer skin, an aesthetically pleasing belly button, a more defined waist, and less visible stretch marks. Both classic abdominal lipectomy and mini-lipectomy with body contouring using liposuction provide excellent results in cases of weakened abdominal muscles and excess skin and fat. In most cases, these results are long-lasting, as long as they are accompanied by a balanced diet and regular exercise. This procedure works wonderfully in healthy adults, but remember, it is not a substitute for maintaining a proper diet and exercise routine to achieve and maintain weight reduction. At every step of this journey, we are dedicated to your well-being and boosting your confidence. Feel free to contact us for more information or to discuss your custom transformation. We are here for you, and we look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your goals.
